August in Ukraine is traditionally the season of watermelons. This juicy red berry has many useful properties. Still! It consists of approximately 90% water, so it is considered a product that prevents dehydration of the body.
In addition, watermelon contains antioxidants:
- lycopene, carotenoids that strengthen heart health, reduce the risk of cancer and reduce the level of "bad" cholesterol, help control blood pressure and diabetes, improve sexual function;
- choline, needed by the brain and nervous system to regulate memory, mood, muscle control, cell health, etc.;
- indispensable amino acid citrulline, which improves the condition of blood vessels and muscles.
Do not forget that watermelon is a powerful source of vitamins A, C, K and important mineral elements - copper, potassium and magnesium. They also have substances responsible for sharp vision - lutein and zeaxanthin.
But for some reason, many people associate watermelons with nitrates. CGZ tells whether nitrates in melons are really as scary as they are portrayed, and who should be careful when consuming these striped ones https://bit.ly/3s5l4fk
