In the Lviv region, the first steps have already been taken and a draft order of the regional level has been developed. Details of today's discussion.
A very interesting and productive meeting was held today at the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention with the participation of the management and specialists of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a representative of the regional phthisiatric service and specialists of the USAID Ukraine - USAID Ukraine project "Supporting efforts to combat tuberculosis in Ukraine".
The project offers our partners technical assistance in solving the current task of establishing cooperation between three services (primary health care, primary health care, and phthisiatric services) regarding the tracking and examination of persons who have been in contact with a tuberculosis patient, as regulated by the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated March 9, 2021 No. 406 .
In the region, the first steps have already been taken and a draft order of the regional level has been developed. Today's discussion of obstacles, gaps and needs for continued work and development of convenient and understandable algorithms for the actions of each service ended successfully. The priority tasks that must be completed before holding several training seminars in December 2023 - January 2024 for representatives of three services at the regional level and, accordingly, specialists at the district level (from the identified OTGs) were determined.
The project will provide the necessary assistance to support specialists in the region who will be able to start successful cooperation.
How is this success measured?
The number of identified and examined contact persons per index patient. The earlier and more we detect and treat, the faster we interrupt the spread of the infection.
And the project experts are ready to provide assistance to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, if necessary, in building capacity for the diagnosis and treatment of TB infection based on the request of the Ministry of Health. We have accumulated considerable experience.
