Prostate cancer is one of the five diseases that are the main causes of death among men

In November, the annual Movember campaign, or "Moustache", continues around the world, when men grow mustaches and beards for a month to draw attention to men's health issues.

The Center for Public Health joins the initiative and begins a cycle of materials on the site about men's health, where the first topic will be prostate cancer.

Some facts about a dangerous disease:

Prostate cancer is one of the five diseases that are the main causes of death among men.

The prostate gland is a small, walnut-shaped gland. It produces seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm. Prostate cancer is a malignant neoplasm that develops from the epithelium of the prostate gland.

If prostate cancer is detected at an early stage, when it grows only in the prostate gland, there are great chances of successful treatment.

Among the risk factors: age (most often this type of cancer occurs in men over 50 years old), family history (if close relatives had prostate cancer (father, brother, etc.) or there are genes in the family that increase the risk of developing breast cancer, obesity, race (representatives of the Negroid race suffer from prostate cancer much more often).
