Patients with type 1 diabetes can receive test strips free of charge

Starting October 8, patients with type 1 diabetes can receive test strips for glucose meters through the reimbursement program (that is, free of charge or with a small co-payment).

Today, the reimbursement list includes 23 names of test strips. Their full or partial cost is currently reimbursed by the state.

In order to receive test strips within the program, you must have an electronic prescription.

Such a prescription can be written by both an attending endocrinologist (in particular, a pediatric one), and a "primary" doctor (therapist, pediatrician, or family doctor) of any medical institution that works with the electronic health care system (EHS).

On the other hand, in temporarily occupied territories and in the war zone, test strips can be dispensed with paper prescriptions.

Please note that in order to receive test strips under the reimbursement program, you need to contact a pharmacy that has a contract with the National Health Service under the program "Medical products for determining the level of glucose in the blood." (You can find a suitable pharmacy by following the link on the NSZU website)
