A nationwide campaign to vaccinate children against measles has started in Ukraine

334,690 doses of PDA vaccines have already been delivered to the region.

As part of the campaign, on the eve of the new school year, doctors and mobile vaccination teams will vaccinate children who missed vaccination due to the war or other circumstances.

Two doses of the PKK vaccine — at 12 months and at 6 years — provide effective protection against measles. The vaccine against measles is included in the combined three-component vaccine of the PDA (for the prevention of measles, epidemic parotitis, rubella).

The combined vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) was delivered by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF Ukraine) in support of the National Immunization Program in Ukraine. Storage and delivery of the received vaccine to the regions took place with the support of the USAID Ukraine - USAID Ukraine project "Safe and Affordable Medicines for Ukrainians" (SAFEMed).

At the regional level, the vaccine is stored and transported in accordance with international "cold chain" standards - for this, the regional Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were reequipped: instead of old refrigerators, modern cold rooms and refrigerators were installed, the centers received special cars for transporting vaccines and buses for conducting field vaccination sessions in remote towns and villages of the regions.

In addition, purchased thermal bags and thermal containers for storing and transporting vaccines were distributed throughout Ukraine — more than 2,500 vaccination points and 800 mobile teams received them.
